document.getElementById("info").innerHTML="Established in 1891 in a rented four-bedroom home in Jamaica, Queens, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center's growth has been remarkable. Through commitment to our mission and collaboration with community residents, businesses and other groups we have strengthened and expanded the hospital's services. Today Jamaica Hospital is a 387-bed, fully accredited community teaching hospital with a large network of community-based ambulatory care centers. JHMC offers a full array of acute inpatient, rehabilitation and mental health services, the largest voluntary hospital ambulance fleet serving the City's 911 system, and a Level I trauma center. The hospital provides general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off campus, ambulatory surgery, a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services, and home health services. The affiliated 204-bed Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home (Trump Pavilion) provides long-term care on campus. MediSys Health Network (MediSys) is the not-for-profit parent organization of JHMC as well as several other not-for-profit healthcare provider organizations, including Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, Trump Pavilion, Brookdale's nursing home.

JHMC has brought high quality, accessible services to the underserved residents of the neighborhoods that we serve. Jamaica Hospital's services fill a void for the people in our community, many of whom speak limited or no English, are underinsured or have no health insurance.

Hospital Staff
One of the most important lines of communication is through our staff, most of whom live in Queens and the surrounding boroughs on NY, with many living in our service area. Our physicians, nurses and other clinical staff who witness the illnesses and needs of ourpopulation on a daily basis, often recommend and initiate new programs and services.

Board of Trustees
JHMC's Board provides valuable input on program development. They review and make decisions about programmatic and financial matters at their monthly meetings and are involved in supporting the Jamaica community.";
