Our obstetrical unit practices family-centered care--an exciting
new concept for obstetrical patients. Our family-centered
maternity care offers prenatal classes, special visiting privileges
for fathers and "rooming-in" of the infant in the
mother’s room, if requested. Our educational program
focuses on newborn care instruction classes and lactation
consultant services.
The obstetrical unit is furnished with state-of-the-art
equipment. High tech monitors,
sonographic equipment, and modern birthing beds are combined
with creature
comforts. Individual labor rooms with showers and televisions
have recently
been built.
These amenities complement our superb nursing,
physician and midwifery staffs, all dedicated to providing
the highest quality medical care in a comfortable and supportive
environment.
Every birth is a special event for our staff
as much as for family and baby, and we
are dedicated to making your birth experience a memorable
one.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a full program
to provide total health care for women. Our department offers
tours of the maternity floors and Labor, Delivery, and Recovery
Rooms (LDR's) for expectant parents and prepared childbirth
classes during the pregnancy.
Our Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine has the most up-to-date
equipment for the evaluation of mother and fetus. This is
especially important in the management of high risk pregnancies,
which comprise 25% of our deliveries. This Division is staffed
by a full time Board Certified Perinatologist and highly trained
nurses. Under the direction of the Perinatologist, the Division
provides genetic counseling, amniocentesis, diabetic counseling,
as well as maternal-fetal evaluation during the course of
pregnancy.
Our Gynecologic Services use the latest techniques and equipment,
such as ultrasonography, color Doppler, laser and laparoscopic
surgery, in the diagnoses and treatment of female disorders.
Other problems managed by our Gynecologic Service include
sexually transmitted diseases, abnormal Pap smears, benign
tumors and female urinary disorders including urinary incontinence.
