What’s New
Palliative Care at Jamaica Hospital has been the recipient of several local and statewide awards, honors, and recognition. This includes:
- A Grant for Residency Training in Primary Care. Palliative Care was awarded a three-year, $712,080 grant, from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) division of the Department of Health and Human Services. The grant has developed and implemented educational programs on palliative and end of life care, as well as implemented a palliative care curriculum for JHMC residents, and expanded the existing palliative care consultative services. Additionally, faculty and staff were hired.
- The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) 2008 Community Health Improvement Award. Jamaica Hospital was chosen from approximately 250 hospitals throughout the state of New York. The award acknowledged the Palliative Care program for the quality of life it provides to predominately poor, elderly, and minority patients and families facing problems associated with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
