Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories
The Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories is
a state-of-the-art, full service laboratory that performs
approximately 1.5 million tests annually to help detect, diagnose
and prevent disease. The department includes the Divisions
of Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology,
Microbiology and Phlebotomy. Among the wide range of testing
performed in the department are biopsies, PAP smears, blood
typing for transfusions, glucose and cholesterol levels, blood
counts, culturing of infectious disease organisms and serology
testing. The laboratory is fully computerized and boasts such
technologies as voice recognition, bar coding of specimens
and electronic remote reporting of results. There is an active
blood drawing station that has been serving the needs of the
community for many years. The clinic laboratory operates 24
hours a day, 7 days a week.
Non-Invasive Vascular Lab
This laboratory provides testing for varicose veins, arterial
insufficiency, carotid stenosis, vertebral, renal stenosis,
impotence (to rule out vascular insufficiency) and fistula/graft
analysis. Its equipment includes a state-of-the-art color
duplex scanner.
Non-Invasive Cardiology Lab
An ultra-modern highly sophisticated unit for the diagnosis
of heart disease, the non-invasive cardiology lab is equipped
with two-dimensional echocardiography with color cardiac Doppler
and color flow testing. All phases of stress testing, TEE
and Holter monitoring are performed as well as pacemaker monitoring.
ECG (Electrocardiography)
Routine and diagnostic measurement of the action of the heart.
