According to the Data Dissemination Notice (CMS-6060-N) published May 30, 2007, in the Federal Register the provider/facility NPI #’s may be published.

The sight will provide a search by provider name, Medicare UPIN, Specialty, or location. A list of all matching providers/facilities with their NPI #’s will be displayed. The site also includes additional information such as mailing/billing addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, taxonomy codes, license numbers, UPIN #’s and other provider insurance identifiers.

No login is required and the site is completely free.

The data is complete and generated from CMS and is updated on a monthly basis.

The use of NPI numbers will soon be mandatory for all insurance claims so it is important that you collect them for all providers.
