Susana
Rapaport, M.D. has been appointed Director of Children’s
Services for the MediSys Health Network. MediSys is the parent
company of Jamaica Hospital, Brookdale University Hospital,
and Flushing Hospital, and includes among its resources, over
twenty neighborhood-based Family Care Centers and several nursing
homes.
Dr. Rapaport, who is also chairperson of the department of
pediatrics at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, completed
her medical degree at the University of Rome. She did her
residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, and a
postdoctoral fellowship in neonatology at Mt. Sinai Medical
Center in New York City.
Dr Rapaport is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Albert
Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Rapaport is an accomplished teacher, published researcher,
and skilled clinician whose interests include neonatology,
infant apnea and diseases in adolescents, children, and neonates.
“I hope to utilize the resources and expertise of our
large healthcare network to better serve the children of Brooklyn
and Queens,” stated Dr. Rapaport. “Sharing our
excellent clinical staffs, growing our programs for infants
and children, and increasing the research opportunities will
continue the incredible growth of services available to the
communities that we serve,” she continued.
MediSys Health Network, which was recently listed by Crain’s
NY Business as one of the top twenty-five employers in the
New York region, provides over 600,000 ambulatory care visits
and more than 250,000 emergency department visits annually,
a large percentage of which are pediatrics.
The MediSys Health Network Medical Staff, Trustees
and Administration welcome Dr. Rapaport in her new role.
