–of Mass- Destruction…If you, a family member, or
friend are feeling the stress and anxiety relating to world
and local events, you are not alone. Many people are finding
that the anxiety, concern and fear can be overwhelming, and
these factors are impacting on their daily lives.
MediSys Health Network’s division of Psychiatry is
offering emergency counseling for adults and children who
are experiencing adverse reactions and stress due to world
events. The network has mobilized resources to provide psychiatric
care on an emergency basis to people suffering emotional distress.
This program begins on Monday, March 24th at the locations
and times indicated below. These services are short-term crisis
services, but even if you just need to talk to someone our
counseling experts are here to help.
Our professionals are at the forefront of crisis counseling,
having served as therapists at Ground Zero, crash of flight
800 and other disaster situations. They provided critical
incident stress debriefing for rescue workers after September
11th,and are part of the official Red Cross disaster response
team for major disasters in the region. Our Mental Health
teams are knowledgeable in the special care and understanding
that these events require.
Insurance is accepted as payment for this service.
If the patient does not have insurance the first visit of
service will be free of charge.

The MediSys Health Network is comprised of Jamaica Hospital
Medical Center, Brookdale University Hospital & Medical
Center and Flushing Hospital Medical Center.
The network includes the Brady Institute for Traumatic Brain
Injury, the Trump Pavilion for Nursing and Rehabilitation,
the Shulman & Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation
and two Level I Trauma Centers.
MediSys has a network of 20 Neighborhood-based Family Care
Centers including 2 locations for the Advanced Center For
Psychotherapy.
We provide coverage of over 13 ambulance districts within
the NYC FDNY 911 system and we have 2 mobile medical units
to serve our community.
