The Medical Reserve Corps/New York City (MRC) enhances New York City’s emergency preparedness infrastructure by organizing a group of volunteer health professionals who can be readily mobilized to assist the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) during a local health emergency that requires the City to open Point-of-Distribution clinics (PODs).
- The goal of the MRC is to bring together the knowledge and skills of many different health professionals to address public health crises, including:
- Physicians
- Dentists
- Nurses and nurse practitioners
- Physician Assistants
- Pharmacists
- Mental health practitioners
- Podiatrists
- Optometrists
- Medical assistants and technicians
- Respiratory, Occupational, or Physical Therapists
- EMTs/Paramedics
